Mosa Fever Spreads...
Wagons East...
The end of November - and jings if it isny absolutely
brass monkeys out there. Nothing like a bit of Mosa fever-induced
booty-shakin' to quiver the shivers out of weary bodies at this
time of year.
The sleepy town of Leslie in Fife was hit with
a hefty slab of funk on Sunday night, courtesy of Sunday
Latte @ The Greenside Hotel. The Mosa's
had a ball and the locals expecting the Kareoke were bowled over!
Big thanks to Raegan and all the staff at the Hotel for their hospitality
and shouts out to of our favourite east coasters Junkstar
for coming along too.

Raegan knows which way to go for
good times - straight to the stage!
...meanwhile back in the basement
On Friday, Favela was the place to be as another
Mosa Funk Club night went with a bang. Kicking off with Crazylegs
on the decks followed by the lovely B*licious whipped
our crowd up into a frenzy prior to the Mosas arrival on stage.
The night played host to the first Mosa Funk Dance Competition,
which truly got everybody moving - a couple of bottles of champers
work wonders for it don'tcha know? Check below for the results:

Emfada in full Boa-frenzy mode,
whilst Cami makes sure his shoes are just so

Bad girls in effect - these lovely
Brazillian lasses were on a hen night to remember...

Dance competition winner Disco
Dave gets his bottle (for not losing his on the dancefloor)
- well done!

Thanks again to our hosts at Favela for the night
and to props to perennial favourite Mosa DJ guest KENNY
BREAKS who finished 'em off with some furious breaks action.
Catch him at the Institute of Electronic Arts later
this month.
Arches 'R' Us
The Mosas made a welcome return to the Arches
for the FunK! Room night. Due to the cancellation
of RSL, the Mosa's played a club set into the wee
hours. Special props go to Leeloo, BloodyMary,
LuciousLucy and Am for their conga-inducing
antics.

Gigs a-go-go
Awrighty. First up, time for a bit of a heads
up regarding the up-and-coming gigs. Those among you who have been
checking these pages will know that there are a few more gigs on
the way. West Coast kids - your next diary date is the 18th of November
for the FunK! Room, where we are delighted to tell
you that, due to the mighty RSL postponing their
gig until later that Mosa Funk Club are headlining
at this month's club! Thats right - top of the heap, king of the
hill, (hang on, isn't that a song lyric?). Naturally, we are dead
excited about this as it promises to be a corker.
Next date in the calendar has to be at Favela,
who were so good to us last time that we had to come back (check
the gallery for evidence). Its another
club night, so joining us for the evening will be the sublime DJ
antics of CJ (of the legendary Unit)&
Kenny Breaks (curator of The Institute
of Electronic Artists) and special guest B*Licious
(resident Funkin' Gonuts DJ @ the Carnival
Arts Centre). Promises to be hot, fun and deeply downright
doity (mind take your best undies).
Weekend Antics in the Central Region
Another busy weekend for Team Mosa as the funk-wagon
rolled east, stopping by Jamaica (Street) on the way. Homebrew
welcomed us back to the hallowed dark hall of the SubClub
for some decidedly thursday-ish action. Props to Sista Bink &
Leeloo for making it on time (chuckle) and a crop of the crew, who
were treated to a set of the familar blend of funk & Grooves
and a killer new track (we know you are going to love it!)
Friday saw us hitch a lift to our first gig out
east (well, except T in the Park but hey!) and we weren't sure what
to expect. Glasgow is funky enough - can the Falkirkians feel it
too? The answer, would overwhelmingly be: yes!
Studio 4 was the venue,

This is the place to find it..
they had a dancing pole in there and everythin'
Dancing in the Dark was the night
(organised by AnneMarie):

Can I say "AnneMarie showing
us how many out of ten she thinks we were?"... nahhhh
These were the bouncers (cheers
for keeping us all safe!)

Ray(?) gives us his scariest anti-ned
doorman's growl. The two Karen's aren't impressed...
and here are some funky dancers with M:

Mairead mid-one-legged performance.
Its the shoes, I'm telling you!
Strangely enough, Studio 4 was more rock/indie-orientated
which might make you think that they might not be up for a party
- but, man, were we proved wrong. Props to the new crowd that weren't
quite ready for the meaty slab of funk that was to hit them and
kudos for hitting the right tone. check it out:

Are we rocking..?
One particular Mosa had a ball as it was his birthday
(groan! sob! Wail!) At least I managed to wrestle the horns away
from Emfada (just for the briefest of brief seconds natch) for this
pic:

"Happy birthday Big J!"
Joel, horns, monkey, cake and Emfada.
Moooo-!(sa) funk Club in Countryside Shocka

Two cows funkin' in a field...
(that sounds like the opening line of a joke)
We got back from Galloway, rosy-cheeked
and fresh-faced and with a bagful of funky tunes to lay on an pair
of ears near you (yes you!). This was the view from the window.
The reason the cows look so perplexed is that we had the windows
open during the daytime and had never had the chance to hear sweet
funky rhythms as they get on with the whole chewin' cud day job...
shucks and you thought the countryside was all Arran sweaters and
accordions.
We learned that:
- Jets fly
very low and very fast in Galloway (eek!)
- SuperstarCammie
does a mean Roast Chicken
- Sheep aren't
big funk fans it seems but their farmers seem to be (thanks Mrs
Taylor!)
P.S. When the directions say "West"
DC, its WEST not EAST!! (yes,
we did get lost on the way folks).
