Pravda, Stavka Style
The November R-Evolution @ Stavka, Glasgow, 2nd November 2006
A chilly november night in Glasgow was the setting for a mini re-enactment of the cultural clash of the century: East vs. West. No, we don't mean Death Row vs. DefJam or nu-skool vs. old skool but decadent western culture vs. Iron Curtain era eastern-style collectivism or more accurately, the commercialised revivalist approximation of Eastern-style collectivism that is Glasgow's Stavka; the latest addition to the CPL empire.
Team Mosa headed westwards (oh, the irony!) to Sauchiehall Street for what could be the next stage in our evolution. Shout out to Trisha, who joined the band onstage for the first time (see below).

Its mandatory for us to make special mention of
Alan McKim, who played first up on the night and did a great solo set. He's been working with Mosa-affiliated mix guru Donzo a.k.a. Subdeluxe and compadre Masterer Simon Tappinden a.k.a. Tap in London on material for a commercial release in the very near future - in the meantime check out his site to sample it. This kid is well on our radar and should be on yours too:

Props also to the mighty Satellite Dub who did a storming electro laptop set. Agents of the MFC caught his set the previous week at Barfly and were muchly impressed.
Both Subdeluxe & Tap have been heavily involved with recording our latest offerings, which will be available on this site very, very soon. Watch this space.
Wholly Moly! Its Holy Matrimony!
(These puns are getting worse aren't they?) - Paul & Mel Get Hitched
Weddings eh? Awww cute! But also daunting. There's always the worry that the bride won't fit into her dress or that the groom will freak out and do a runner for the door or the bride's great Aunty has a funny turn etc. One thing our friend's Paul & Mel didn't have to worry about was whether or not the live music would be funky enough as it was delivered in ample amounts by Team Mosa in the new spangled form its taken of late. Thanks again to the two newly-hitched who made it possible for us to make a killa comeback within the highly agreeable confides of St. Andrews in the Square, Glasgow. Playing in an old Church is an interesting experience - it certainly took a fair bit of persuading to prevent DC from hitting the altar for his solos! Anyway, check out the pics below:
